Our client based in Lancaster currently have an opportunity for an experienced Lab Analyst to join their team.

Role Purpose

·To provide support to the operational teams in terms of the storage and use of chemicals, dyes etc, providing technical and quality testing and other support services as required.

·To ensure management and control of their chemicals is continuously improved; appropriate chemicals are available at the right quality/quantity and condition; usage and stocks are effectively maintained on an hourly, shift, day and weekly basis; and that chemicals are handled and stored in a safe manner.

·To lead and co-ordinate technical excellence which ensures that operational quality and environment targets are continually met.

·Responsible for chemical usage.

·Accountable for chemical costs including supplier’s performance and terms.

·Advising on all technical issues and communicating effectively at all levels throughout the organisation.

·To provide a trouble shooting, technical support and investigative service throughout the site and to provide an advisory and technical support role in respect of new projects or developments.

·New ideas generated.

·Operating costs improved.

·Contribute to the development of site improvement strategies and plans in particular identifying major problems/opportunities, and where appropriate proposing solutions and/or ensuring solutions are developed by the support team.

·Ensure technical input in respect to establishing agreed standards and practices around chemicals and dyes and the maintenance of a high profile operating manual.

·Meet/exceed budgets and targets, in particular with respect to chemical costs.

·Contribute to the individual and collective development plans to ensure that the company build appropriate technical expertise in their day and shift operating teams, and reduce/eliminate traditional functional barriers.

·Ensure that appropriate systems and procedures are in place at all levels to comply with current and future COSHH regulations.

·Ensure that causes of technical failure and variance are systematically identified and eliminated, and that actions to achieve this are included within the site improvement strategies and plans.

·Ensure plans to continuously improve the operation (in particular with respect to chemicals, dyes and water) are effectively implemented, challenging objectives and targets are achieved around cost, volume and achievement of quality specification, consistency and predictability improved, customer needs are satisfied and excellent safety and environmental compliance and performance is valued by all.

The successful candidate will have a Degree in Chemistry, extensive experience within a manufacturing site which includes Chemicals, Dyes and Water.
